A Prayer (in Verse)

Holy Spirit, Counsellor
Come help this helpless son
Unblock these hardened ears
To harken and obey
Come melt this frigid heart
Conform it to the way
Restore my crippled feet
To rush after your law

Holy Spirit, Lord of Life
Fashion me unto him
To his image mold me
Kill the sins that hold me

Holy Gift from the Father
Grace from the Beloved
Glorious guide of the wise
Fill these words with power
(Or, rather, let me see)
That all this is of you
Reveal sin I conceal
Unveil the Great Judgment

Spreader of the Father's love
Shed abroad in this heart:
"Every word is sacred counted
Speaking of sins all accounted
Here adore the work of the cross
The end, ever re-counted"

The end, ever recount it
