A Girl Who Loved to Sing
There was a girl who loved to sing
It gave her meaning.
She practiced everyday
To - one day - climb the stage
And when her friends came by to play
She practiced everyday.
She practiced day and night
Aim: the future spotlight
So when her parents came to talk
She practiced day and night.
She practiced to be known
A space for her to show
Her gifts; and when the moment came
She'd practiced to be known.
She practiced and practiced up to the day
With trembling she climbed that coveted stair
She looked out on that much wished audience.
She stared, yes, she did stare
Then sang without a care
After all, it was her day
Though nobody was there.
